How to get involved before the Burn

You are invited to join the team and help organise Nest 2025!

Do you want to see something specific at Nest? Help make it happen. We are a Do-Ocracy.  Whether you're an old hand at something, or always wanted to try it and think you could pick it (with guidance, of course!), volunteering with Burning Nest is rewarding and fun!

There are many ways to contribute! All open roles are listed in detail below. In order from most to least involved:

• Become a Link or Co-Link in charge of coordinating a Circle and its Leads.
• Take on a Lead Role in charge of one specific aspect of the Burn.
• Join a Circle

Take a Lead Role

All Lead roles at Nest are filled by people like you. Some roles have a broad remit. Others take charge of one specific area of the burn. Different roles require different qualities, and there's a position for every set of skills. Do you feel like stepping up and taking some responsibility? See below for the full list of open roles.

Core team: Volunteers Co-Link
Our fabulous Vols Link Patricia is expecting a baby soon! She needs support to drive recruitment and assemble a kick-ass Core Team for Nest 2025!

Community Circle: Inclusion Lead
A role for someone who is passionate about diversity and inclusion. The main task will be to coordinate with the TWAT team to manage, decide and process low-income ticket applications. The Inclusion Lead will also look at other ways of increasing support for diverse and/or marginalised burners.

Community Circle: Accessibility Lead
For those deeply motivated to making Nest a more welcoming space for burners with accessibility needs. You will be reaching out to any ticketholders with access needs and identify the support required, then coordinate with DWP to design a plan for toilets, pathways, benches, camping areas, etc. You will also prepare information documents on accessibility for theme camps and participants. If we want to provide the Joy Ride service again this year (the on-site accessibility vehicle), the Accessibility Lead will need to recruit drivers and find a suitable vehicle and insurance.

Community Circle: The Point Co-Lead
The Point is a community space at Burning Nest, a focal point of people, activities, information and education. We're looking for someone to join Tish in creating a decor plan for The Point, the schedule of workshops and parties, and to maintain the space during the event. An incredible opportunity to be at the centre of the fun!

Community Circle: Community Engagement Lead
If you love being the heart of the community and bringing people together, this is the role for you! We need someone keen to organise events that encourage the community to meet and engage before we all meet in the Glade, and to welcome new burners into our community. You will work in collaboration with the Comms team and the Event Link to organise a site visit, a digital Town Hall meeting, and an online meeting for New Burner to Ask Any Questions - plus any other ideas you might have. Extra points if you have basic skills in using PowerPoint or similar software to help demystify what a burn is.

Community Circle: Families Leads/Team
The Families Lead(s) are the point of contact for families at Nest, ensuring that their needs are heard and that all child-related information is passed on to parents and carers. The Families Team will also work with the Edge of Chaos team to make our safeguarding plan more robust and write the necessary agreements for parents and guardians. You won't be alone as we already have a Family Co-Lead who stepped forward, we just need more hands!

Arts Circle: Art Grants Lead/Team
Take the helm of Art Grants administration, by helping us give away our money to bring some art into life! Revise the art grant criteria, and manage the Arts Grant selection process.

Arts Circle: Art Project Liaison(s)
The Arts Circle is recruiting liaisons to support artists working on their projects. Each art liaison will help a small number of artists with the practical aspects of bringing their project to Nest. This could involve answering questions around placement, site logistics, or identifying opportunities for them to share costs such as transport and materials with other projects. We’re looking for good communicators who can keep track of emails and who are excited about bringing amazing art to Nest.

Arts Circle: Decor Lead
Would you like to help beautifying public spaces around next year's theme? We are looking for anyone who has an interest in art or decor to help organise workshops, meetups, and charity shop raids in the lead up to Nest. Devise your vision, prepare your materials, and gather a team to produce decor elements leading up to the event. Then manage decor Build and Strike. You will ideally be working alongside two co-leads that will assist in organising makeries in Bristol and in London.

Arts Circle: Decor & Makeries Co-Lead x2 (Bristol & London)
At the makeries we get together to catch up with fellow artists, meet new ones, and get involved with making art, crafts and decor for Nest. Are you passionate about making art and connecting over it? We're looking for two co-leads based in either Bristol or London to organise and facilitate a few makeries before Nest, to get crafty and create some art to occupy the public spaces at Nest. You'll be liaising with the Decor Lead.

Arts Circle: Art & DPW Liaison
Help Nest's artists implement their artistic visions on site! In the lead-up to Nest, you will act as the connection between the Arts and DPW teams, supporting procurement if needed. You'll be present for Build, so you can liaise with artists and DPW, support with logistics, and ensure all the art is installed safely around site. A great role for someone with experience bringing creative projects to Nest or other events, who wants to encourage less experienced artists and support them in making their ideas a reality.

TWAT Circle: Inclusion Ticket Manager
Are you organized and passionate about making events inclusive and accessible? Help us manage low-income and carer ticket applications! You'll be the point person for anonymizing applications, tallying votes from assessors, and letting folks know the results. Plus, you’ll ensure everything runs smoothly for carer ticket holders at the gate. What You'll Do:

• Sort and manage low-income ticket applications.
• Communicate with applicants about their status.
• Oversee the allocation and support for carer tickets.

TWAT: Website Tech Support

Got a knack for tech? Want to join us on our biggest innovative leap in the tech circle in years? Come help us manage our WordPress site! You’ll be working closely with our tech lead to keep the site running smoothly and brainstorming cool new features. What You'll Do:

• Keep our WordPress site up-to-date and troubleshoot as needed.
• Help test all of the new and exciting features we're adding to make the online Nest experience "so 2025".
• Help implement new ideas and improvements to enhance user experience.

TWAT: Ticket System Manager

Love managing systems and digging into details? Take charge of our Quicket ticketing setup! From setting up events to handling ticket sales and data, you’ll be our go-to guru for all things tickets. What You'll Do:

• Set up and manage events in Quicket.
• Keep track of ticket sales and data exports.
• Collaborate with our Inclusion Ticket Manager to keep ticketing seamless.

TWAT: Inclusion ticket application assessors (x3)

Interested in helping decide who gets a low-income ticket to our event? Join us as an assessor! You don’t need to be an expert—just bring a fair mindset and a readiness to review applications against our guidelines. What You'll Do:

• Evaluate anonymized applications.
• Help make decisions based on set criteria.
• Ensure a fair process for all applicants.
• Offer feedback for future iterations of our ever evolving criteria.
