Kitchen Co-Lead (Strike)
About this role
Be the greatest provider of warmth and comfort food for the hardworking burners staying for strike. The Kitchen is the place our volunteers come to rest their weary bodies from hard graft and get fluffed, with astoundingly delicious and varied food from a camping kitchen. The Kitchen Strike Lead will plan, source and deliver a meal programme for the volunteers staying for strike. We have existing meal plans that we can share with you, but we also receive a LOT of leftover food from departing Nestlings, so our first port of call is to use this up! Waste not want not...
We make 3 meals a day + fluffing snacks to keep our teams motivated, and our kitchen heroes are among the most beloved humans on site. If you're an experienced kitchen human with a knack for making order out of chaos, this is the job for you!
Responsibilities
This role needs someone who's comfy in the kitchen, flexible with developing and adapting meal plans on the fly, can keep an eye on dietaries, and direct a team of willing and able volunteers. You should be able to plan in both small and large quantities, vegan, veggie and meat options, have a good understanding of FOD, basic kitchen safety, and hygiene.
Time commitment: from Monday 2nd June bright and early, to Wednesday 4th in the afternoon, with an induction either on build Sunday or as arranged with the Event Kitchen Lead. Pre-event, we'd also like to get you inducted into the meal planning spreadsheet and food ordering systems so you're ready to hit the ground running.
