Gate Co-Lead
About this role
The Gate Leads are the keepers of first impressions at Burning Nest, overseeing the magical portal where participants step into the Glade and begin their Burn journey. As the first face people see, the Gate embodies the warmth, energy, and radical inclusivity that define Nest. It’s also where participants get their tickets scanned, receive a WWW guide, information to navigate the site, and a reminder of the 11 Principles and the importance of volunteering. This role will be shared with another (very experienced) Gate Co-Lead.
Responsibilities
- Volunteer recruitment and organising: recruit and organise a team of Gate volunteers, ensuring adequate coverage for all Gate shifts during the event (with support from the Volunteers Circle), plan the shift schedule, and deliver training sessions before the event and on-site
- Decor: liaise with the Arts Circle to decorate the Gate area or undertake decoration yourself, crafting a beautiful and welcoming entry point to the Glade
- Logistics: ensure essential equipment is available, including fully charged mobile phones, power banks and radios
- On-site operations: work closely with the other members of the Edge of Chaos Circle and Site Leads to ensure the Gate’s operations run smoothly and address any issues
