There’s no “right way” to participate – just pick something that feels doable and fun, then do a little bit more than you would at a normal event.
Easy ways to jump in
- Volunteer for a shift (Gate, Rangers support, LNT, welfare support, build/strike etc.)
- Join a theme camp and help make a shared space happen
- Bring art: light it up, make it interactive, make it awesome!
- Host a small workshop (craft, games, skills, storytime, movement, anything)
- Plan a tiny pop-up: tea service, compliment booth, photo corner, absurd quiz
You don’t need to be “ready”
Some of the best contributions are impulsive and simple. Bring curiosity. Bring kindness. Bring a roll of gaffer tape. Turn up and ask: “How can I help?”
Participation = responsibility too
Being part of the magic also means:
- Respecting consent and boundaries
- Looking out for your mates and neighbours
- Keeping the site clean and cared for
- Solving problems without making them someone else’s unpaid job
